I'm quite concerned that putting TXT records at the top level of the
domain means that we have to be certain that SPF TXT records are always
siftable from other TXT records. While it seems likely that "v=spf1"
at the start of the TXT record is a good tag, it isn't part of any
standard or RFC, so there really is no guarantee. Putting the main
policy under SPF's only sub-domain keeps things tidy, and ensures it'll
never conflict.
Actually, I agree -- I don't really care what the "spf-config"
string is, but I agree that having a TXT record on the domain
itself is not a good idea.
