I can tell you right now that this isn't going to happen, if for no other
Ned is probably overstating the situation. I suspect that it might
eventually happen, though I doubt it will be in our lifetimes...
More seriously as a matter of good design practise for large-scale,
interoperable, multi-vendor, multi-administration systems, I believe
defaults are mostly bad things to have. Being explicit saves all sorts of
opportunities for screwing up (though, of course, not ALL such
opportunities...)
