I like the wax seal idea.  I think that if it is used, it is important
that an envelope be a part of the graphic, both to signify that is
(e)mail related and to make it more obvious as to what it is (otherwise
it might just look like a colored blob).  It is also easily extensible,
by adding additional seals, as DJ said.
